Selling your horsebox or trailer
It’s stressful! But it doesn’t have to be. We created The Horsebox Marketplace to make buying and selling horseboxes/trailers easier and less annoying. No more PM me hon, Message Sent x, Will you take 50% off? Can I collect it now? only to be ghosted. It’s infuriating, but fear not, we’re here to make the process easier.
Horsebox Marketplace connects verified sellers with willing buyers. By making users create an account we have already separated the wheat from the chaff of people who are serious about buying, not just mindlessly scrolling and tyre-kicking on Facebook groups.

Our top tips for buying and selling
Selling
- Photos – you can upload 20 photos! So make sure they’re clear, in focus and give a proper view of the vehicle
- Video – There is an option for those with a youtube account to upload a video. This will massively aid your chances of selling your box. We highly recommend taking the time to do this!
- Description – Keep it on point! Most people don’t care if you celebrated your kids, cats’ mothers’ birthday in the box one weekend in Scotland. Buyers want to know, is the floor good? Is it driveable, does it have MOT, service history? All that good stuff that will actually help buyers make a decision about contacting you. The more information you provide, the fewer messages you’ll have to respond to, answering the same questions repeatedly.
- Location – It doesn’t have to be your exact home address but an approximate location will help buyers decide if they want to travel that far.
- PRICE – this is a tough one, pricing your box can be hard, but here are a couple of things to bare in mind. Sentiment provides ZERO value to the box, try to keep it unemotional and price it to sell. If your listing has been active for a while or you keep getting low offers, then it may be time to consider it may be priced too high. Look at other listing prices and what’s selling according to what the market is dictating.
- Respond to messages – it sounds like a no-brainer but believe it or not, some sellers just don’t respond.
Buying
- Are you really buying? – We’ve all done it, window shopped, enquired about something we know we’d love but cannot, for whatever reason, buy right now. Let’s help sellers out and only enquire if we’re actually serious.

- Don’t pay before viewing – we cannot emphasise this enough, we take scamming seriously and actively encourage users to report accounts asking for financial information or payment upfront.
- Checks – don’t forget to check things like floors, payload, MOT, service history,
- Viewing – we always recommend taking someone with you to view as it helps to have an extra pair of eyes.
