This privacy policy explains how Horsebox Marketplace collects, uses and looks after your personal information when you use horseboxmarketplace.com to browse, buy or sell horseboxes and trailers, or when you contact us.
Who we are
Horsebox Marketplace is owned and operated by Thomas Kitchen-Dunn, a sole trader based in the UK. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Thomas Kitchen-Dunn trading as Horsebox Marketplace. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

What we collect
- Account details: name, email address, username and password (stored in hashed, unreadable form) when you register, plus any phone number or location you add.
- Listings: the details and photos you add to a listing, and the contact details you choose to show buyers.
- Enquiries and messages: what you send to sellers or to us through the site or by email.
- Payments: if you pay for a listing or upgrade, a record of the order. Card details are entered into a secure form provided by Stripe and go directly to Stripe; we do not see or store your full card number.
- Email updates: your email address (and name, if given) if you sign up for new-listing alerts or our mailing list.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, browser and device type and pages visited, collected by our hosting and security tools and, if you accept analytics cookies, by Google Analytics.
How we use it and our lawful bases
- To provide your account, publish and manage listings, and pass enquiries between buyers and sellers: contract.
- To take payment for listings and keep financial records: contract and legal obligation.
- To send listing alerts and mailing-list emails you have signed up for: consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- If you tick the box when you register or in your account, to email you selling tips, offers and Horsebox Marketplace news: consent. You can untick it in My Account, or use the unsubscribe link in any email, at any time. We will still send emails about your account, orders and listings.
- To answer questions, prevent fraud, spam and misuse, and keep the site secure: legitimate interests.
- To understand how the site is used (Google Analytics): consent, given through our cookie banner.
Please remember that information you put in a public listing can be seen by anyone who visits the site.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We use trusted service providers (processors) who handle data on our instructions:
- 20i: website hosting and email;
- Stripe: card payments and fraud prevention;
- Mailchimp: the footer mailing list only, if you sign up there (seller emails do not use Mailchimp);
- Google: Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, only if you accept analytics cookies.
Our seller emails are managed with FluentCRM, which runs on our own website. Your details are not sent to a separate email-marketing provider.
When you contact a seller, the details you send go to that seller. We may also share information with professional advisers, or where the law requires it.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on recognised safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
We keep account and listing information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to deal with questions, disputes and security. Payment and order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Email subscribers are kept until they unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept in line with the settings of the analytics tools.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your personal information, and ask us to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to transfer it (data portability). Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Some rights apply only in certain circumstances. Email info@horseboxmarketplace.com.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies to run your account and listings. We only use Google Analytics cookies if you accept them in our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Our Cookie Policy lists the cookies we use and what they do.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
